Job Description: The Laser Weld Operator will use a hand-welding tool to weld and join small metal components per specifications in conjunction with customer quality requirements and United Alloy manufacturing philosophies. Training will be administered by the Process Engineering team.
Reports To: Operations Supervisor/Operations Manager
Shift: 4am - 2pm; Monday - Thursday (OT Friday s when mandatory; Saturday s will be voluntary only)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must be able to read material sheet tags and determine various material types and gauges.
- Uphold safety to its highest standard and develop and maintain a firm understanding of the laser safety program, procedures, and hazards.
- Review, understand, and comply with the laser safety policy, procedures, rules and any further safety recommendations initiated by the LSS, or LSO prior to operating a laser or laser system.
- Follow all United Alloy safety policies, procedures, as well as all federal and state standards
- Wear all required PPE; Laser safety glasses shall be worn at all times while within the encloser area.
- Perform/Participate in periodic inspections of area to verify the work area is compliant with ANSI Z136.1-2014.
- Only operate lasers and associated equipment for which they have been formally trained.
- Report any disabled, broken, or bypassed safety features are reported to the LSS or LSO.
- Promptly report the details of incidents or near misses involving a laser to the LSS, LSO, or both.
- Consult the LSS or LSO whenever there are any questions regarding laser use.
- Capability to learn TIG welding process.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering team regarding continuous improvement.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- The individual must have an exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes.
- Ability to work independently in a conducive modular laser-welding room.
- The individual must possess a keen sense of attention to detail.
- Must possess the ability to operate tape measure, calipers, and basic hand/air tools.
- Must be able to determine material types and gauges.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds with an assist.
