BRCOT is offering an invigorating opportunity to create a brand new program offering in Athletic Training. The position is responsible for creating a conducive and exciting learning environment to develop students awareness and career choices related to Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. The instructor will be responsible for teaching best professional standards of practice, code of professional responsibility, prevention of injury, immediate care, patient assessment, therapeutic intervention, physiology and anatomy.

COT classes are designed to integrate a rigorous program of academic study with real world hands-on training. Our students are taught by highly competent instructors from the field that stress “learning by doing.” Through our collaboration with parents, communities, and business leaders, we serve a diverse student body with multiple learning styles. Our integrated curriculum provides students the opportunity to develop the academic, vocational and technical skills necessary to be productive members of a global community. All of our courses are college prep or honors level that prepare students to progress to post-secondary education. Brief Job Duties:
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas: Full Job Description
1. Plan an athletic training/sports medacine program involving demonstrations, lecture, discussions, and hand on experiences for students.
2. Plan and coordinate field trips to local facilities to supplement student learning.
3.Evaluate academic and employability skills of students, prepare progress reports and end of quarter report cards, and keeps appropriate student records.
4. Provides safety instruction to students in the proper use of and storage of equipment, materials, and tools
5. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a safe and productive learning environment
6. Maintains consistent parent communication as well as with student support staff and administration.

Certification/License:
Maine Licensure as an Athletic Trainer
National Athletics Trainer Association Board of Certication (BOC)
AHA CPR Instructor certification
Must be willing to meet the DOE certification requirements for teaching in a secondary school within the first 3 years of teaching
Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE approved program and the National Athletic Trainer Association or
Master's degree in Athletic Training with a bachelor in a related field from a CAATE approved program and the National Athletic Trainer Association

Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.
