Male Group Home (3rd Shift)

Opportunity Awaits is seeking candidates who want to make a difference in the lives of adults with disabilities. In this role you work in a Group Home providing support and supervision to 3 adult males with Intellectual and other Developmental Disabilities. This shift style position is located in Gastonia, NC, Our Group Home provide consumers with the training needed to help them improve their daily living skills, activity, integration into the community and social skills in areas such using leisure time, personal care, and hygiene. Other responsibilities include overseeing food preparation, providing transportation and overseeing the healthcare of consumers. In this role you are helping the resident consumers identify and acquire valued social abilities to improve self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills, which take place in a home or in a community.

Pay Rate is $14 per hour.

Shift hours are:

Up to 3 weekday nights 8 PM to 8:30 AM and one weekend night (dependability is essential in this role)

Ability to work extra hours may be available. Holiday work is required for this role (Pay is time and a half for holidays.)

Responsibilities may include (but not limited to):

• Work one on one with consumers/small groups to reinforce habilitation/support services
• Experience with instruction and assistance in daily living skills for residents, including personal care such as showering and feeding consumers, and addressing bathroom hygiene issues as needed
• Facilitating community integration and provide community recreational activities
• Documentation on goals and activities
• Helping residents develop healthy social habits

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and are required to have a high school diploma or GED. Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license, car insurance and successfully pass a background check. Six months verifiable direct experience working with individuals with disabilities (paid or volunteer) in lieu of experience with disabilities, other relevant experience may be considered with additional on the job training. All experience must be verifiable.
