About the Position:

Student Business Services is part of the Division of Administration & Finance. We operate as our university's cashiers and collect, allocate, and safeguard funds between students, banks, other departments, and various external sources. Account specialists are available to offer private consultation and personalized meetings to find payment solutions. Our customer service centers are ready to answer inquiries about student financial accounts and other related issues. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Student Business Services (SBS) Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Exempt II. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Business Services, the SBS Business Analyst is responsible for functional support, production, ongoing development, upgrades, and enhancements to the Student Financials component of CSUF's PeopleSoft Student Administration system. Serves as a member of the Student Business Systems team to define and evaluate Student Financials integration issues. Develops and implements fee structure based on business requirements and best practices and map against PeopleSoft software functionality. Recommends and documents solutions to requirement gaps and PeopleSoft standard functionality. Documents functional specifications for conversions, upgrades, interfaces, reports, forms, and workflow.

Works closely with end-users and internal customers to ensure the integrity of the application and data stores in the system; Participates as a Student Financials functional team member during the Student Administration implementation (fit/gap application design sessions). Partners with the Systems and Technology group to coordinate system improvements and upgrades, system testing, conversions, and implementations; works with CMS document trainers to design and deliver end-user training. Provides operational expertise, guidance, presentations, and instructions on PeopleSoft products to Student Business Services staff and other PeopleSoft users and generate training/procedural scripts and aids for end-users. Gathers functional systems, reporting, and security requirements for the Student Financials application (PeopleSoft and any related third-party products), including internal and external customers. Supports the PeopleSoft set-up of Student Financials and provides ongoing maintenance of the PeopleSoft base tables related to Student Financials. Performs other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus four years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in the research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems, address them proactively, and develop appropriate recommendations leading to solutions. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications


Experience using PeopleSoft Student Financials functionality in a university environment. Several years of functional experience in a Student Financial office at a university using a software package such as SIS+, Banner, or PeopleSoft handling the following: Accounts receivables in a high-volume processing environment; application of payment and other accounting issues; reconciliation of GL accounts; third party contracts; bad debts; Title V refunding; implementation of state and federal regulations; maintenance of student financials setup tables (including rate tables); knowledge of Transact; maintenance of operational security.
