Your purpose -The Accounting Manager will mentor and manage a team of accountants and staff to ensure effective accounting strategies, policies and procedures. They will oversee the Credit Union's fiscal record keeping, ensuring accurate records and reporting. This will include developing and preparing daily, monthly, annual and other periodic financial statements and reports. They will also coordinate audits of financial records and statements The Accounting Manager must have a strong understanding of GAAP and government regulations. Another important aspect of this position is the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with employees, members, auditors, internal management, regulators and other organizations. They will create a focus on member-obsessed behaviors that continually contributes to extraordinary member and employee experiences.

As an Accounting Manager, your typical day may include the following:

• As you sip your morning beverage of choice, you log in and plan your day!
• You co-lead morning huddles several days per week with your department to discuss the weekly workload, plans for success or gain support for any hurdles you and/or the team may face.
• Depending on the day and team needs, you may be
  • meeting with your staff to review their measures of success goals, coaching sessions, working sessions, etc.
  • preparing financial statements & related BOD & ALCO reports
  • collaborating on the NCUA 5300 - Call Report
  • prepping for and participating in regulatory and financial audits.
  • working with managers throughout the organization on process improvements and innovation ideas to improve efficiencies in the accounting department
  • working on the quarterly update to a rolling 12-month budget
  • working on cost center/department P&L reports
  • critically reviewing and monitoring expenditures & revenue streams across the organization, looking for opportunities
  • honing the accounting department procedures and practices
• It is now time for your personal development. In this role you report directly to the Chief Financial Officer where you have a scheduled meeting at least twice monthly discussing measures of success, or simply going over your needs for future growth.
• The last bit of your day is reserved for You. Take time to organize yourself, get your calendar & assignments set up for the next day / rest of the week while reflecting on your successes and opportunities for improvement.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; Graduate degree and CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of related, progressive experience in a depository institution environment.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
