Location Description:

Responsibilities:
This position oversees daily operations and ensures compliance with policies and procedures in the areas of general ledger and accounts payable. The position is responsible for supervising the accounts payable staff.


JOB ACTIVITIES/DUTIES

  • Supervise day to day operations of the Accounts Payable Department
  • Maintain an environment of continuous improvement to identify, develop and implement process changes to increase efficiency for assigned functional areas.
  • Work with IT department to implement and test changes to accounts payable software.
  • Ensure processes, procedures and controls are consistently applied.
  • Create metrics to monitor accounts payable department’s efficiency and accuracy on a regular basis.
  • Complete month-end and quarter-end close activities including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports to support business needs.
  • Participate in annual audits, creation of audit and tax working papers.
  • Assist Accounting with special projects and assignments.
  • Establish goals and objectives for staff development.
  • Set priorities and provide work direction.
  • Perform employee performance evaluations.

Qualifications:


Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.

Experience: 5 + years of experience preferred, preferably within a manufacturing company. Minimum of 1-2 years supervisory experience.

Skills: Experience with server based general ledger systems like JD Edwards or Oracle and the associated sub-ledger systems. Proficient in Excel, Word and Power Point. Excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
Supervisory Skills: Ability to conduct performance reviews, motivate and lead personnel.

JOB COMPLEXITY

Relationships:

Internal – Works closely with the Associate Director, Accounting, Accounts Payable team members and other Accounting Department members. Works with all departments to gather and provide accurate financial information.

External – Works with outside vendors regarding Accounts Payable related issues and auditors to gather and provide required information.
