POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists with organizing and conducting enrichment activities on licensed program sites, ensuring safety, security and well-being of each child while attending our licensed program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in supervising a group of 4-12 year old children under the direction of a qualified staff member
• Assist in implementing program curriculum
• Attend meetings and agency functions as required
• Address minor disciplinary concerns for children and report major concerns to Site Director
• Conduct group and area activities

JOB COMPLEXITY

• Follow instructions from direct supervisor
• Substitute at other sites as required

STAFF SUPERVISION

• Ordinarily, no supervisory responsibility required

COMMUNICATION

• Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with school site, parents, children and Harmonium staff

AGENCY LEADERSHIP

• No responsibility and leadership required for service development, but may be required to comment on Harmonium and program policies and procedures

DECISION MAKING

• Judgments and decisions are guided by Harmonium and program policies, contracts and guidelines, and Title 22 regulations
  

MINIMUM COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Experience in childcare or in a recreational program setting is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

• Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests and hobbies, and/or arts and crafts
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively with children and adults
• Ability to assist with program activities
• Ability to substitute at other Klassic Kids locations throughout San Diego
  

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must receive Fingerprint Clearance upon hire (paid by Harmonium)
• Must submit the following upon hire:
  • Health screening (no older than 1 year)

  • TB test results (no older than 1 year)

  • COVID vaccination proof (or request an accommodation)

  • Immunization records for Measles, Pertussis and annual Influenza (or sign an annual declination declining the Influenza shot)

  • Valid EMSA Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification within 30 days of hire
    

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above, and below the shoulder
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20-50 pounds
• High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks
• Ability to work in a noisy and outdoors environment
• Occasional travel in San Diego County
