The
Activity Therapy Specialist, Inpatient Psychiatry will work
Full Time, Days and provides individualized Activity Therapy services to all patients on Inpatient Psychiatry in coordination with the multidisciplinary treatment philosophy.
- The Activity Therapy Specialist collaborates with other members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, families and community agencies to provide patient centered care.
- The Activity Therapy Specialist maintains knowledge and skills relevant to the discipline of Activity Therapy, as well as compliance with Bassett Healthcare education requirements.
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. All candidates who accept an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network will be required to show proof of vaccination as required by New York State.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Human Services, Creative Arts, or other related field is required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- 6 months of experience with recreational therapy or similar field required.
- Experience working with psychiatric patients required.
Licensure/Certificates:
- Certification in any related field is preferred.
Skills:
- Manual dexterity for craft projects is necessary.
- Good communication, teaching, and problem solving skills are essential.
- Knowledge of current principles and practices of occupational, recreational, music or art therapy.
- Ability to plan, organize and direct a varied activity therapy program.
- Ability to devise work projects, instruct patients, and evaluate their progress.
- Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and conduct correspondence.
- Serves as an advocate and provides information to create understanding of the goals.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically able to engage in recreational activities.
- On feet much of day, with lifting and moving of supplies.
