Position Overview:

The Administrator is essential to research and creative achievement (RCA) success within CAHSS. The successful candidate will have significant experience in higher education and/or non-profit grants development, grant writing and award management. In collaboration with grants staff in our college, the Administrator will help to enhance and expand the grant services we provide to our faculty members in the arts, humanities and social sciences. This position will assist faculty principal investigators (PIs) in developing, writing and editing grant proposals, as well as preparing workable project budgets. It will also assist with award set-up and implementation, following university and sponsor guidelines, and should have familiarity with higher education grant pre- and post-award processes, including routing approval, project monitoring, project management (budget and finance) and reporting.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available.



Responsibilities:
  • Organize and manage the proposal preparation process, including communicating in an effective manner with PIs, Office of Sponsored Programs and external sponsors on eligibility and grant application requirements.
  • Provide editing and proofreading of proposal narratives. When needed, the incumbent will build on the faculty's initial idea and text and develop a clear, concise and compelling proposal narrative.
  • Ensure alignment of proposal with sponsor requirements.
  • Assist with budget preparation and budget justification.
  • Assist with award setup in coordination with the PI, lead department, Dean’s Office and Office of Sponsored Programs.
  • Provide post-award services, as needed, to include budget transactions and reconciliation and preparation of reports and project closeout.
  • Work collaboratively with other research grants administration staff on organizing and promoting grants-related trainings and workshops for faculty.
  • Work with faculty teams on cross-disciplinary and inter-institutional proposals, as well as those that involve community partners.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a Humanities, Arts or Social Sciences field
  • Three years of experience in grant writing, development and grant management or related experience in higher education, government or non-profit organizations, especially with Arts, Humanities and Humanistic Social Science grants
  • Experience in pre-award and post-award grant processes
  • Strong written and communication skills in a higher education, governmental, or non-profit organization setting
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office and Adobe programs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in a Humanities, Arts or Social Sciences field
  • Five or more years of experience in grant writing, development and management experience, especially in the Arts, Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences
  • Knowledge of Arts and Humanities grant and fellowship sponsors, including government agencies, foundations and private funders
  • Familiarity with grants management system software, including PeopleSoft Financial and Human Resources and Kuali
  • Familiarity with grant databases, such as Grant Forward and Foundation Directory Online
  • Grant accounting and reporting experience
