Aero/Thermal Engineer

Job Summary:

Our client in Auburn Hills, MI is looking for an Aero/Thermal Engineer. This is a contract position.

Sound engineering judgment, excellent communication skills, the ability to influence change, and the ability to drive decisions are a must.

The Thermal Performance Engineer responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure that vehicle functional objectives are achieved and will recommend actions to the Product team.
  • Conduct reviews of functional systems (simulation and testing), cooling systems status with program chiefs, development test planning with lab engineers, and annual hot trip execution for assigned programs.
  • Lead the communications and reporting of issues which include status updates and driving issue resolution.
  • Responsible for proactive planning and tracking of vehicle validation, active support of aero/thermal attributes, and DVP&R test and reporting.
  • Occasionally be required to interact with members of the exterior styling studio.

Basics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Chauffeur’s License or willingness and ability to get one.
  • Ability to work in and lead a team. This job requires a lot of coordination between several different groups to get the job done.
  • Good planning and time management skills.
  • General understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer.
  • Ability to dissect and analyze sets of data to help root cause issues.
  • Years of Experience – Ideally, at least 3 years of engineering experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with thermal development, HVAC, or cooling systems.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with drive cell / wind tunnel testing.
  • Experience working with and directing bargaining unit mechanics.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams.
  • Proven ability to lead teams.
  • Class A Commercial Driver License.
