Diaper needs are a hidden consequence of poverty and lack of resources. Almost 1 in 3 families in America battle to afford diapers for their children. Federal assistance programs like SNAP and WIC do not provide diapers. According to the First Thing First Needs and Assets Report, there are 1,953 Yavapai County children, 0 to 5 years of age, living in poverty. Wrapped in Love Diaper Bank (WiL) is the newest project under Community Counts. The overarching goal is to alleviate the cost of diapering and strengthen resource use of programs and services for struggling families in Yavapai County. The Diaper Bank VISTA will coordinate with school-based family resource centers, community agencies, and family programs to ensure needy populations are accessing all that is available to assist them in raising healthy children. The Alliance VISTA team offers monthly professional development, a state-wide network of support, and beauty that can only be found in rural Arizona. Relocation to the community required.
Member Duties : 1)Increase community partner participation and diaper distribution; 2)Increase organizational visibility in the community; 3)Enhance operational efficiency; 4)Assist with paperwork preparation for submission for 501c3 status. 5)Ensure there is a sustainable transfer of knowledge, products, and relationships to the appropriate person who will be picking up elements of your project after your service year.
