Overview of Role:
The Americas Head of Operations is responsible for the oversight of all Operational functions within Americas across a number of locations. The operational organisation consists of Trade Management, Settlements, Energy and Commodities Operations, Brokerage and Accounts Receivable, Client On-boarding, Reference Data and Reconciliation functions. The individual will have oversight and control responsibilities across these teams and, along with their regional counterparts in EMEA and APAC, will adhere to the global framework ensuring global consistency of standards, processes and technology. The individual will represent the Operations functions with key stakeholders both internally and externally, and work with the Global Operations heads to help drive regional deliverables and priorities. The role requires an individual that can drive change in order to improve the operational environment from both a process and control perspective. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and have good and open communication skills and can mentor the team accordingly. The individual will also be responsible for the location strategy of Operations and will own all commercial relationships in the region across vendors, exchanges and other partners.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all operational activity in the region.
  • Responsible for the state of all controls within the operations functions and improvement of them.
  • Partners with Technology and key stakeholders to drive Technology change across the organisation.
  • Must ensure the calibre of the leadership team is of a high standard and assist them in capability assessments and mobility within the teams
  • Constant monitoring of the cost base to ensure lean and effective operations.
  • Develops overall budgets and is responsible for the execution and direction of firm’s strategic plan for operating groups.
  • Interfaces with business heads on all operations related issues.
  • Acts as the firms’ representative with the key industry and regulatory groups related to operations activities, including Regulatory Reporting requirements.
  • Interacts regularly with executive management to ensure that company’s operations priorities are aligned with total company direction.
  • Continually investigates and introduces process improvement measures across Operations and works with the team to develop a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Participates in vendor negotiations to ensure product relevance and cost-efficiency.

Skills and Experience
  • At least 15 years’ experience, 10 of which must be managerial, in an Operations capacity within financial services
  • Experience with multiple financial products in both voice and electronic business
  • Ability to think and act strategically and proactively
