This position provides analytical support to the Operation/Transportation Leadership team. Evaluates cost impact for new carriers and carrier increases. Tracks transportation service performance and participates in executive level reporting and presentation. Prepares transportation analyses and templates for RFI and RFP’s reviews results and provides management recommendation. Position performs month end financial functions such as freight accruals, budget vs actual results bridge. Update KPI and report results on freight mode and weight optimization projects. Maintain transportation Master Data in Sap Freight Payables system. Provide analytical support to the logistics leadership administrative staff. Develop and deliver on projects, system enhancements, new initiatives, and implementations. Conducts and leads Process Audit, Improvement, and Change Management activities. Leads, Facilitates, and participates in Kaizen workshops for continuous improvement using (MOS).

Essential Functions

  • Generate and share established department metrics –
    • Freight Payables and support,
    • Monthly business reviews
    • Carrier performance
    • Financial performance
    • Annual and Monthly budgeting and analytics
  • Create or generate dynamic reporting.
    • Analytics – Identify gaps, drive action, and or develop processes
    • Delivery performance
    • Generate ad-hoc analysis to identify and report trends and anomalies as needed
    • Costing analysis
  • Identify market Cost Per Gallon impact of all new and existing transportation Operations.
  • Identify, advise, lead, and direct system configuration and support SAP applications as the liaison between the Business and IT.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams consisting of both internal and external partners to analyze current and develop future operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements with an eye for continuous improvement.
  • Identify program variances from objectives and suggest modifications to conform or recommend program improvements or revisions to development team manager.
  • Identify, analyze, and document defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in system functions, and outputs.
  • Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new systems to improve production of workflow as required.
  • Prepare workflow charts, diagrams, and SOP’s to specify in detail operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed by personnel.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Finance or quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred experience in a business analyst role within a manufacturing and distribution environment
  • Coursework, training or certification in business process improvement and statistical process control is desirable.
  • Operations experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES

  • Advanced Excel skills including but not limited to VBA, macros, pivot tables, etc.
  • Ability to organize large data sets while ensuring data completeness and accuracy
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Tools
  • Create and analyze cost performance and monthly financials related to transportation or distribution
  • Ability to analyze business processes, conceptualize quality and process improvement plans, implement, measure, and maintain transportation initiatives.
  • Thorough knowledge of end-user business processes, policies, procedures, personnel, protocol, problem solving processes and detailed technical systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand, and apply cross-functional knowledge and to communicate effectively to broad audiences.
  • Ability to organize large data sets while ensuring data completeness and accuracy
  • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to create spreadsheet data, pivot tables, power point, and presentations
  • Considerable knowledge of Lean and continuous improvement philosophies, methods, standards, and practices and application of statistical analysis tools
  • Learning Agility: Able to learn new platforms/ technologies quickly.
  • Ability facilities and provide project leadership

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High level or advanced Excel experience required
  • Macros / Access and SAP experience preferred
  • Financial acumen or quantitative discipline
  • Ability to travel (periodically)
  • Ability to work flexible hours
