Job Duties

The Administrative Officer Of The Day Serves as the CSH Administrator on Duty (AOD) outside of traditional business hours. Interfaces with community stakeholders including the CSBs, jail and law enforcement personnel, and other outside facility personnel to assure safe and timely admission of patients to CSH in accordance with Code of Virginia. Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to manage risk and for continuity of patient care. Oversees workflow across units and throughout hospital outside of traditional business hours. Utilizes knowledge base and experience, provides age-specific quality nursing care to adult psychiatric patients through the nursing process in accordance with hospital policy and procedure and standards of nursing practice.
In order to successfully perform the duties of this position the selected candidate needs to have Knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical conditions, and psycho-social needs of patients. Knowledge of the principles and practices of psychiatric nursing. Have the ability to think critically in situations that require managing multiple priorities. Ability to supervise performance of and make judgments about performance and provide action able positive and corrective feedback to others. Ability to delegate effectively and in accordance with regulations. Ability to contribute to cohesiveness of team work including accepting feedback from others. Ability to collaborate, problem solve, and negotiate with colleagues of the interdisciplinary Treatment Team and all departments and disciplines. Incumbent should have the ability to utilize effective interpersonal oral and written communication skills.


Minimum Qualifications

Licensed or licensed eligible as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia State Board of Nursing.

Experience in supervisory role in a hospital or nursing home setting is required.

Valid Virginia Driver’s License is also required.


Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing is preferred.
Experience in the field of behavioral health/psychiatric nursing is preferred.
