Position Summary

The Application Development team is responsible for application development and modification and / or maintenance of applications. These individuals have in-depth knowledge of development tools and languages. Incumbents in these positions work closely with business partners in defining requirements for applications.

The Application Developer acts as the principal designer for major applications utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs. This position has responsibility for technical delivery of complex development activities for a given assignment. They will also act as a technical resource responsible for directing the overall technical progress of projects or application initiatives. In this capacity, they will plan and administer the operational and administrative activities of a Development Programming unit or team.

Responsibilities

• Consult with functional management in the analysis of short and long-range business requirements and recommends innovations which anticipate the future impact of changing business needs.
• Work closely with client management to identify the business requirements and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments, software, hardware, technologies and tools.
• Coordinate activities with IT unit heads (e.g., database, operations, telecommunications, etc.)
• Serve as primary technical point of contact for interaction with other units and teams.
• Review, evaluate and prepare periodic activity and progress reports.
• Builds, modifies, reviews and analyzes software systems through code development, testing, debugging and documentation.
• Perform complex product design, systems analysis and programming activities.
• Provide production support for existing software within the areas covered by the role.
• Prepare technical documentation.
• Conduct unit & integration testing.
• Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions to the problems.
• Scope and design efficient solutions to documented business needs.
• Manage code review process.
• Look at ways to make software components more consistent, easily supported and more highly performing through the use of existing software design guidelines and analysis of performance bottlenecks.
• Participate in MS SQL server and Disaster Recovery exercises, deployments, and restore.
• Provide project estimates and manage delivery expectations.
• Interface directly with clients to clarify requirements or discuss alternative solutions.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Proficient in MS SQL Server, views, stored procedures, triggers.
• Experience with Ticketing systems. Spiceworks and JIRA experience.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficient at creating and writing system test.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Information Technology preferred.
• Experience developing MS Access Database Solutions and VBA.
• 2+ years of MS SQL Server database development experience.
