About the role:

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for an Application Engineer to join our team in Duluth, GA. This role acts as the primary technical resource for the field sales force, and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with Field Sales, Customer(s), and factories effectively.
  • Develops industry experience (periodicals, internet research, conference participation, site visits, etc.).
  • Reviews request for quotations (specifications, emails, phone calls, etc.).
  • Leads and takes ownership of the quotation/opportunity by requesting feedback from Sales or directly from customers, when appropriate.
  • Identifies project/customer details vital for determining quotation strategy.
  • Compiles an accurate quotation to customers of WEG’s offering.
  • Follows minimum pricing guidelines as established by management.
  • Identifies opportunities to management when alternate pricing is needed.
  • Accurately receives and reviews Purchase Order (as needed).
  • Generates order entry material.
  • Organizes all quotation/order documentation electronically and hard copies (if needed).
  • Assists Project Coordinator technically or commercially as needed.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent from a four year college or university is preferred.

Knowledge / training:

  • Understands basic to medium complex level specifications.
  • Understands basic industry standards such as NEMA, IEC, IEEE, UL, etc.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical drawings and nomenclature is required.
  • Uses spreadsheet skills to create / compile costs and pricing for projects.
  • Basic understand of the sales process for engineered products.
  • Knowledge of market and competition.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, as well as Outlook.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of related experience.
