Job description
This position's primary function is to repair and maintain electric, propane, diesel, and gasoline industrial equipment. Work schedule: Monday-Friday, Swing Shift (2:00pm to 10:30pm, flexible as needed). Wage range is $27.36-$31.00/hour ($56,784-$64,480 per year) the hourly rate does not include: overtime, shift differential, and production bonuses. Starting wage will depend on experience. This person will have the ability to learn tasks and earn more money; once you are a journey-level mechanic you will receive an additional increase. Production Bonuses are possible for every employee each month, based on the plant site's target goals.
This position is critical to keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently by performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as well as troubleshooting any issue that may come up that interrupts our operations. The Truck Shop Department works closely with rolling stock operators to get ahead of any issues before they cause downtime or significant equipment failure.
Mechanics are required to provide their own tools.
Salary Range: $27.36-$34.60/hour
PTO for full time employees is accrued as follows:

1 through 2 years (0 – 35 months)
2.5 hours per pay period/ 60 hours per year
- PTO hours are accrued only in pay periods where some hours are paid.

- Ability to repair diesel, propane, gasoline, and electrical motors, brake systems, and change tires.
- Ability to diagnose breakdowns, diagnose motor problems, diagnose hydraulic problems, diagnose electrical problems,
- Ability to read schematics and parts diagrams.
- Ability to fabricate, weld, cut and air arc.
- Assist with ordering parts and keep records on equipment.
- Willing to attend any training necessary to upgrade performance.
- Willing to train any employees as assigned by supervisor.
- Willing to work overtime as necessary.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to build relationships with our vendors and customers.
- 2-years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic is preferred but not required.
- Experience with ordering parts is preferred but not required.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred but not required.
- Will be expected to progress towards becoming a Journey Level Mechanic.
- Must hold and maintain current Washington driver's license and Hampton PIT authorization.
- Strong attention to details, good organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong communication skills both oral and written.
