Role Summary

Serves as overall facilitator for development of the program timeline and program description. Plans and coordinates all activities relating to design, product engineering, testing, quality assurance engineering, tooling, purchasing, and manufacturing engineering. Monitors and recommends adjustments to plant operating procedures for the purpose of accomplishing the program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies current and future customer and internal program requirements throughout the organization with respect to content, cost, timing, manufacturing requirements, program contracts (including design and engineering), and program resource allocation.
  • Plans appropriately to confirm that product development is consistent with established program objectives and company needs.
  • Facilitates interaction with the Customer and the internal management team.
  • Promotes coordination and communication of those involved on the program team.
  • Responsible for lead design control activities.
  • Creates P.O. requests for required design/engineering work.
  • Coordinates the closing of project numbers.
  • Collect all design inputs, including divisional requirements for product engineering.
  • Coordinates and maintains open communications with the Customer.
  • Monitors and reports the following: Program Tracking Form, Costing Correspondence (i.e. Program Release Pricing, Program Cost Changes, and Program Cost Reduction Initiatives), Program Budget Requirements, and the Program Plan Book.
  • Leads cross functional team in execution of the APQP/ PDP system and monitors and tracks progress.
  • Leads monthly program reviews with management team.
  • Leads all program phase and gate review activities.
  • Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements

  • Determines resource requirements necessary to complete projects and solve open issues.
  • Work with APQP Team members to assure completion of all phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, all tooling, fixtures, product testing, sampling, PPAP, launch, etc.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Coordinates expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepare and maintain Master Timing Chart.
  • Act as a key liaison between company, customer, and suppliers during project phases.
  • Attend all APQP meetings and, or project related meeting as necessary.
  • Publish meeting minutes and maintain project documentation.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in combination of Project and Program Management . Must have 'CRADE to GRAVE' accomplishment of a automotive component from start (inception to completion/launch).
  • Desired for a Program Manager who has been supporting the OEM as a customer
  • Automotive manufacturing /engineering experience with prior project team management experience. The program manager would be handling 3 programs that are in development. The other programs are launched/launching and in a maintenance mode from program management
  • Bachelor's degree in technical Engineering field (preferably mechanical or industrial) ; or equivalent combination of education and substantial manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, etc.).
