Assistant plant manager:

As one of La Porte Indiana’s rapidly growing manufacturing plants, Modern Distributing relies on a talented and committed workforce that is energized by a continued and evolving betterment of the working environment. We’re currently seeking an assistant plant manager to assist in overseeing the production, shipping, maintenance, and quality assurance functions of our facility. This professional multitasker will assist with coordinating the plant’s manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally detail oriented and able to lead a team, serving as liaison between plant workers and upper management. This person must be dedicated to achieving operational excellence and have a genuine interest in helping the company succeed. This individual will possess strong leadership skills, will ensure the safety of all personal, and adheres to standard procedures.

Objectives of this role

· Observe and implement strategic improvements for production, quality, and labor utilization throughout the facility

· Provide leadership to ensure effective utilization of plant personnel and equipment

· Collaborate with functional departments in the implementation of improvements

· Investigate and implement innovative manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve product quality

Responsibilities

· Plan and coordinate manufacturing operations for production, machinery, processing, and packaging departments

· Ensure that production line schedules are in accordance with facility capabilities, customer requirements, and financial planning

· Manage materials replenishment, quality standards, and performance metrics in support of organizational goals and objectives

· Manage cost structures for manufacturing by keeping operational expenses within budget allowance, and investigate cost-reduction measures

· Create documentation protocols and ensure that all records of operations are properly maintained and reviewed

Required skills and qualifications

· Three or more years of experience in plant operations

· Proven skills in leadership and supervision

· Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing principles

Preferred skills and qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management and or business, or related field

Supply chain principles

Characteristics, operations and resources involved in moving a product or service from supplier to the customer.

Daily Tasks

Assist with the day-to-day operation of a chemical plant

Assist in ensuring standard operating procedures are performed and upheld

Assist with making and fulfilling production schedules

Assist with the forecasting and ordering of raw materials

Assist with transfer of raw materials within the facility using a forklift

Assist with the creation of blends, batches and tank transfers using a diaphragm pump

Assist with filling lines and packaging

Assist with scheduling freight pick up of LTL carriers

Assist with inspecting and maintaining equipment

Assist with hiring and training new workers

Consult with upper management

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
