Responsibilities
- Manage key commercial relationships with renewable energy suppliers in a variety of North American markets, including any of the following approved Independent System Operators (ISOs), PJM, MISO, ERCOT, and SPP
- Onboard new contracts at execution into an asset management platform and develop commercial relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor the progress of contracted assets under construction and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations.
- Proactively identify opportunities to reduce risk and ensure that contracts deliver renewable energy in line with expectations to meet company goals
- Track environmental attribute certificate delivery/retirement in accordance with contract provisions and maintain supporting documentation for audit
- Ensure compliance with relevant local regulatory requirements
- Stay informed and communicate market, policy and regulatory changes that could impact contract performance
- Track asset P&L and provide input for asset performance reporting to management
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate information is shared on a timely basis with legal, tax, accounting, and finance
- Monitor contract settlements and implement tools for independent verification to ensure accurate invoices and timely payments
- Provide support for contract negotiations with actionable feedback on vendor performance and portfolio risks and opportunities
- Support the development of a platform of analytical and management tools to optimize the renewable energy portfolio
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, engineering, sustainability, mathematics, science, social sciences, or related AND 2+ years of experience with renewable energy projects and PPAs, including any of the following: wholesale and retail power markets, negotiation, reading and writing physical and financial contracts and agreements, or related energy or renewable energy experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience with renewable energy asset management and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) management.
- 2+ years of experience in the energy sector with exposure to renewable energy and wholesale and/or retail power markets
2+ years of energy or renewable energy experience [solar PV, onshore or offshore wind and other technologies].- 2+ years of experience managing power purchase agreements, ideally both physical and financial contracts for differences, for example “Virtual Power Purchase Agreements”
- 2+ years of experience building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Commercial experience with environmental attributes, aka “Renewable Energy Certificates” (RECs)
- Excellent understanding of renewable energy incentives and regulatory structures.
- Broad technical understanding of energy systems and renewable energy technologies, and ability to assess new renewable energy technologies and complementary technologies to identify new opportunities
- Project management skills, including experience with appropriate software tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver meaningful business results with minimal supervision
- General business and financial acumen and substantive evidence of customer-service orientation
- Excellent communications skills (written, verbal and presentation)
- Proficiency with MS Excel and other MS Office suite products
- Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail to support review and interpretation of renewable energy contracts and ensure vendor compliance
- Proactive team player with high emotional intelligence capable of adapting to ambiguous environments with cross-group collaboration and problem-solving abilities
- Growth mindset with problem-solving skills
These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Sourcing and Category Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $72,800 - $144,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 - $157,900 per year.
