GENERAL SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Assist in the supervision, training, motivation and evaluation of camp staff.- Assists in Interviews, trains, develops, and evaluate the counselors in training.
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers.
- Ensure that all staff is following the handbook.
- Assist in the development of the daily schedule and as ensure that all aspects are followed appropriately and in a positive way (electives, special programs, daily events).
- Assist in the supervision and organization of all camp field trips.
- Consult with staff regularly to ensure programs are valuable, attitudes are positive, and to maintain good relations with them.
- Assist in guiding staff through self-evaluation process and camp programs.
- Work cooperatively with fellow Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, Camp Counselors, maintenance staff, and parents.
- Maintains discipline with children during all activities under the guidelines of the handbook.
- Follows all City of League City policies and procedures
- Keeps the Camp Director appraised of situations requiring his/her attention.
- Attends trainings and meetings as required.
- Manage staff performance and delegate tasks.
- Leading and supporting campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities.
- Monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
- Reporting building issues and damaged property to Camp Director.
- Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to parents and camp staff.
- Leading staff during Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
- Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years or older- Experience with kids 5-15 years old
- Minimum 3 months of supervision experience
- High level of responsibility and accountability
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor
- Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position, may be substituted or evaluated at the discretion of the City.
PREFERRED:
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred
- Previous camp experience preferred
- 21 years or older
- Commit to the entire summer season

Knowledge of:
- Experience in youth camp program administration
- The principles, practices and objectives of Parks and Recreation Administration and recreation programming
Skill in:
- Patient, comfortable and familiar with children
- Monitoring and maintaining the safety and security of children
- Creative and innovative thinker
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively in oral and written forms
- Work with children
- Prioritize duties and complete tasks within allotted planning hours
- Troubleshoot, problem solve and use good judgement
- Deal with the public tactfully and courteously
- Commitment to promoting the positive image and growth of the Camp program
