Kahala Brands, a globally recognized leader in quick-service restaurant franchising located in beautiful Scottsdale Arizona, currently has an opportunity for an Assistant Construction Manager to join the headquarters team. Kahala franchisees and partners operate a portfolio of over 28 quick-service restaurant brands including Cold Stone Creamery, Blimpie, TacoTime and Baja Fresh, among others, in over 20 countries around the world.

The desired candidate will be a member of the national construction team managing the expansion of all developing brands within our portfolio. This position has a high level of ownership and responsibility requiring both strategic and tactical skills. This involves interaction with multiple brands, 3rd party providers and individual franchisees. This is an entry to mid-level position and would report to the Director of Construction. The role requires management of all phases of the construction projects, from pre-construction, to post-construction.

JOB FUNCTIONS

General

This position will manage all phases of the construction project, from pre-construction to post-construction.

Responsibilities

• Restaurant equipment/procurement management
• Manages all phases of development projects for new builds, refresh, remodel, and relocation projects on behalf of franchisees and/or Kahala Brands
• Effectively works with the construction team, maintains open communication, advises on status of projects and elevates job site issues
• Assists Project Manager/ Equipment Manager with any additional duties and tasks

Pre-Construction

• Performs detailed take-off of FF & E counts from plans (kitchen equipment, millwork, furniture, etc.) and solicit/review 3rd party proposals
• Reviews construction document package
• Performs detailed take-off of FF & E counts from plans (Kitchen equipment, millwork, furniture, etc.) and solicits/reviews 3rd party proposals
• Works with other departments to facilitate project implementations
• Provides support as needed to the franchisee during the entire development process

Construction

• Organizes and participates in regularly scheduled project progress conference calls, MS Teams and other group meetings
• Assists in tracking project progress, turnover and opening deadlines
• Provides timely responses to all construction related RFI’s and field issues
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals. Comments as needed
• Tracks Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF & E) orders and delivery status
• Facilitate and manage Refresh (RF), Remodel (RM) and Relocation (RL) projects of existing restaurants
• Assist Project Manager/ Equipment Manager with any additional duties and tasks

Other Responsibilities

• Manages and facilitates special projects on behalf of franchisees and/or Kahala Brands Operations
• Acts in a facilities management capacity as needed
• New product and material search
• Manages and administrates equipment warranty claims as needed
• Ability to travel at times required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 3 years construction management experience. Will consider candidates with college degree in related studies in lieu of experience
• Knowledge of Restaurant equipment procurement is a must.
• Background in restaurant remodels and facilities management a plus
• Detailed understanding of plans, construction documents and engineering disciplines
• Detailed knowledge and experience with restaurant equipment and FF & E procurement
• Ability to communicate with and manage multiple disciplines (architects, engineers, suppliers etc.) simultaneously
• Willingness to work with multiple, individual and diverse franchisee clientele
• Ability to learn and retain brand standards/trade dress for multiple brands
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Must be able to work within a team structure and be prepared to take a leadership role
• Communicate verbally with customers, and the public using a telephone in a face- to -face, one- to- one setting, and in group setting

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
