Qualified candidate assist the Foreperson in monitoring, managing and operating irrigation system to maintain healthy, ready to selll ornamental plants

Duties:

• Promote healthy plant development
• Assist in maintaining and updating the irrigation schedule using a wireless system.
• Instruct irrigation crew on daily activities
• Routinely check water quality from the wells and ponds
• Maintain monthly records of water volume applied from wells and ponds
• Direct and participate in the repair and maintenance of the irrigation system
• Perform routine leachate fraction calculations
• Verify uniformity and efficiency of the irrigation system
• Direct and participate in the winterization and de-winterization of the irrigation system
• Keep detailed inventory for parts
• Help with some pesticides, herbicides or fertilizer applications when needed
• Other duties as assigned.

Duties:

• 2-year or a 4-year degree or have experience in a related field
• Ability to obtain an IL commercial not for hire pesticide applicator’s license
• Ability to operate small and large tractors and sprayers
• Some computer skills needed
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to work overtime, some weekends and some holidays
• Have a valid driver’s license.
