Fast growing, West Coast Property Management and Development Company (westcoastselfstorage.com) with over 100 locations in WA, OR, CA, NV and ID. We are looking for a dynamic person to join us as our Assistant Operations Controller. You will bring a bachelor's degree in accounting, 5-7 + years of increasingly responsible accounting and personnel management experience and a desire to learn our business operations from top to bottom in order to contribute significantly and broadly. You will be part of an accounting/finance team that helps the company achieve its vision and strategy. Your success and fulfillment will be driven by these attributes and your ability to assist others and contribute to a strong service culture where people come first.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead, support and manage a team of operations accountants
  • Oversee monthly close and reporting for a growing portfolio of more than 100 in properties in 5 states
  • Property and partnership accounting and reporting
  • Work closely with field operations group; some travel required
  • Ongoing special research and reporting projects
  • Create operating budgets for prospective and existing properties

Controller skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 + years of increasingly responsible accounting and personnel management experience
  • Expert customer and team orientation, and happy to jump in and help along a broad business spectrum
  • Strong personnel management skills and prior experience
  • Partner effectively with team members and other leaders to achieve goals and successfully implement business initiatives. Serve as a resource to provide expertise on various operational and customer-related items
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying priorities simultaneously
  • A sense of urgency that drives ability to effectively deliver and manage results in a fast- paced environment with exceptional follow through
  • Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Proactively improve process functioning and strive for enhanced levels of efficiency
  • Highly organized and focused
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and reporting
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus
