Location: Guinyard-Butler Middle School
Contract: 220 Days
Reports to: Principal
Certification: Applicants must possess a valid Certificate issued by the South Carolina Department of Education
Position will be open until filled.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the Principal in defining the school’s mission and communicating the goals and expectations of the total school program.
- Assists in developing site plans, budgets and staffing requirements to ensure the efficient operation of the school in compliance with district plans and objectives.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline according to due process rights.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with school community.
- Demonstrates instructional leadership by monitoring instruction and enhancing student achievement and school effectiveness.
- Assists in monitoring student performance with appropriate data collection and analysis; uses multiple sources of data to monitor and assess the progress of students.
- Assists in providing a safe environment for students and school personnel.
- Assists in recruiting and interviewing prospective teachers.
- Serves as an administrator in charge of the school in the absence of the Principal.
- Supports the Principal in the process of continuous school improvement.
- Assists in orienting students and parents to the school and maintains a high level of visibility and availability to students, parents, and school personnel.
- Supports the development, implementation and monitoring of student IEP’s as applicable.
- Chairs committees or facilitates meetings as assigned by the Principal for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district, and/or other required objectives.
- Ability to apply good judgment and independent problem solving skills in analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to intervene, negotiate, and resolve conflicts as needed.
- Ability to complete, process, and maintain required records, reports, and other information.
- Assist in providing technical training.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Master's degree or higher with at least three years of experience as a classroom teacher.
Must possess a valid S.C. credential in school administration.
