Essex Westford School District is seeking a full-time Assistant Principal to join the Leadership Team at Essex High School, beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. The Assistant Principal supports and collaborates with the Principal, Assistant Principals, and Directors to provide optimum educational opportunities for all students through the lens of the teams core values: community, high expectations for all, collective efficacy, and making a positive impact.The position will remain posted until filled. Candidates who apply before May 22, 2023, will be given first consideration for the position.We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Master's degree in School Administration or other appropriate disciplines, plus five years as a classroom teacher (minimum of three years at secondary level) or educational leader, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Hold, or be eligible to hold, a valid Vermont Educator license with a Principal endorsement (3-91).
- Be able to hold conversations with empathy about controversial topics while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Ability to lead conversations and professional development to promote understanding and adoption of effective practices related to proficiency-based learning and reporting.
- Knowledge and understanding of restorative practices.
- Demonstrated mastery in vision-based and strategic planning and development, research and design, and data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Demonstrated skill set for facilitation, effective communication, collaboration, and engagement strategies that foster understanding and a sense of community.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ability to effectively manage student and adult behaviors to ensure a safe and respectful learning and working environment for all.
- Understanding and ability to give guidance and leadership in many parts of differentiated instruction, supported learning environments, formative assessment, student engagement, and other instructional and classroom management techniques.
- Ability to successfully facilitate and lead collaborative faculty teams in professional learning communities.
