Faculty | Cellular Bioengineering
Farmington, CT
The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a faculty member with expertise in cellular bioengineering at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to join the faculty of JAX Genomic Medicine in Farmington, Conn.
JAX is specifically seeking to recruit a scientist with expertise in creating cellular models of human disease using human cells.
Specific Areas of Expertise of Interest to JAX could include:
- Experience in the use of state-of-the-art approaches for cellular engineering towards therapeutic discovery as well as recruitment of other functional proteins to a site of interest, cellular modifications that improve therapeutic efficacy and genome engineering.
- Expertise in using engineered cells for advanced screening and other disease modeling.
- Interest in cancer applications to the above approaches.
- Familiar with cellular screening and imaging methods, 3D printing, organoid development, and cellular differentiation as well as having interest in leveraging existing research areas of excellence at JAX in biology, cancer, immunology and/or JAX mouse models.
Professional Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Development Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology or other Engineering or Science discipline with an emphasis on basic or translational bioscience based on cellular models of disease and postdoctoral training in a relevant area.
- Demonstrated potential to develop a strong externally funded research program in the field of Cellular Bioengineering.
- Candidates for the Associate and Full Professor ranks must have a distinguished record of published research, demonstrating significant impact on the profession, and success at securing funding to support research programs.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and collaboration is essential.
- Prior successes in and desire to contribute to team projects on an ongoing basis is required.
- Experience presenting at conferences and workshops.
- Strong track record of peer-reviewed publication in reputable scientific journals.
- Successful record of mentoring and/or teaching.
