Assistant Supervisor, Boarding Department
Job description
VCA South Shore (Weymouth) Animal Hospital seeking a highly experienced pet professional to join our active leadership team as Assistant Supervisor in the boarding department. In this leadership role, you will work closely with other department supervisors and managers to develop company protocols, direct procedural change and mentor our support staff. The right candidate for this job would be an enthusiastic and outgoing personality that loves people. This person will join a team of supervisors to help guide, train, and nurture our boarding team. Working side by side with the team, the Assistant Boarding Supervisor will interact directly with the clients and boarding pets as well as be a part of our leadership team working to develop and drive hospital initiatives to continue to make us a premier 24-hour emergency/referral/multi-specialty and general practice.
Responsibilities
- You’ll be in charge of managing the day-to-day responsibilities associated with accommodating guests' arrivals, departures, and requirements
- You will also be responsible for the creation of new processes, services and department direction with support from the boarding supervisor and manager
- Supervise the activities of employees who provide care for lodging pets
- Will check our furry friends in and out of appointments as well as creating client rapport for both long time visitors and first timers
- Ensure outstanding customer service to pet owners by supervising the execution of care requests based on the pets needs
- Answer inquiries pertaining to services and occasionally resolve customer complaints or concerns
- Responsible for ensuring boarding cleanliness and safety
- Responsible for the success of tasks and duties that apply to boarding the department, also will be responsible for setting expectations and building processes for the boarding team alongside the boarding supervisor and manager
- Create a positive and safe environment for pets
- Ensure the wellbeing of the animals that are boarding
Qualifications
- Works well in a fast-paced team environment
- Available to work weekends
- Loves dogs and cats!
- Comfortable working with pets of all ages, size, and temperament
- Has an eye for detail
- Good organization skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Positive outgoing personality and excellent customer service skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Holds a genuine and sincere interest in pets’ individual needs
Pay range is $17-$17.50 dependent on experience, skill set, and education.
