Job Description Summary
Provides the Actuarial team support in one or more of the company's health plans, in areas of rate adequacy, claims reserving, cost of care forecasting and planning. Responsible for maintaining complex cost models and the preparation of required regulatory reporting while operating in a fast-paced, small team environment.
Job Description
This role analyzes high-cost drug trends and the impacts of management strategies for health plan clients. The ideal applicant brings analytical skills and intellectual curiosity to a team of underwriters, business analysts, and actuaries.
- Provides actuarial market support for one or more of the company's full-risk managed health plan programs.
- Supports actuarial activities in regard to monthly financial close process.
- Develops and/or maintains analytical cost models in support of claims reserving, forecasting, reporting or similar.
- Provides pricing analytics supporting state and/or federal governing agency engagement on rate setting issues.
- Supports actuarial aspects of required health plan regulatory reporting.
- Performs medical cost analyses as needed.
Responsibilities
- Active pursuit of actuarial designation (ASA-Associate of the Society of Actuaries/FSA-Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) preferred.
- Experience working in comprehensive managed health care plan environment preferred
- Experience working in Managed Medicaid and/or Medicare plan preferred.
- Experience with data manipulation tools (SQL/SAS or similar) required.
- 2 - 5 years of actuarial or relevant experience required; ASA exam results and completions will be considered.
- Strong analytics and hands-on data manipulation skills.
- Strong spreadsheet skills required.
- Ability to effectively apply independent data validation to work.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Potential pay for this position ranges from $59,610.00 - $95,370.00 based on experience and skills. Pay range may vary by 8% depending on applicant location.
