Role: Associate Carpenter

Description: Reports to Lead Carpenter

Dates: May 30 - July 27

Pay Rate: 20/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Build theatrical sets for The Full Monty and The Beat Goes On
  • Support the Lead Carpenter in administration and supervision of all safety protocols in place at our warehouse, rehearsal spaces, and venues
  • Report to Lead Carpenter
  • Working 9am-5pm, weekly
  • Maintain scenic workshop area of warehouse, repair or send in broken equipment for maintenance
  • Build required set pieces to set request specifications
  • Read “to scale” ground plans and renderings
  • Experience with table saw, chop saw, band saw, and pneumatic tools
  • Valid drivers license needed
  • Potentially lifting/carrying up to 40lbs multiple times per shift
  • Immediately report all injuries, incidences, and equipment failures to Company Manager

Skills:

  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of power tool safety
  • Knowledge of carpentry: building wooden flats, platforms, railing, and stair units

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

Purpose

Consistent with the duty to provide and maintain a workplace free of recognized hazards, Transcendence Theatre Company (“Company”) has adopted this policy to safeguard the health and well-being of Employees and Contractors, and their families, customers and visitors, others who spend time in our facilities, and the community, from the risks associated with COVID-19. This policy is intended to comply with applicable federal, state, and local guidance and authority, including guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health and licensing authorities.

Scope

This policy applies to all Employees and Contractors. It does not apply to customers or visitors. This policy applies to the COVID-19 vaccine available as of the date of this policy or that become available within a reasonable period. Any material changes to this policy will be communicated to Employees and Contractors as soon as available.

Policy

The Company requires all Employees and Contractors to be fully vaccinated or obtain an approved exemption. A fully vaccinated person is one who has received a two-dose series of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or a single-does COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen).

The Company will require Employees and Contractors to (a) confirm vaccines are received; or (b) obtain an approved exemption as an accommodation. The process for seeking an accommodation is explained below. Employees and Contractors who do not meet one of these requirements will be placed on unpaid leave and their status will be evaluated periodically.

To confirm an Employee or Contractor has received vaccination(s) Employees and Contractors must present written evidence of immunization to the Company Manager from an authorized healthcare provider or pharmacy. Employee or Contractor must present proof of receiving their final vaccination and booster shot prior to start date of work with the Company. The Company regards all such information as confidential.

Requests for Exemptions as Accommodations

To assist any Employee or Contractor who is disabled, pregnant, a nursing mother, has a qualifying medical condition that contraindicates the vaccination, or objects to being vaccinated on the basis of a sincerely held religious belief or practice, the Company will engage in an interactive process to determine if a reasonable accommodations can be provided that does not create an undue hardship on the Company and/or does not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace and/or to the Employee or Contractor. To request an accommodation for one of the above reasons, please notify the Company Manager in writing at companymanager@ttcsonoma.org. Once the Company is aware of the need for an accommodation, the Company will engage in an interactive process to identify possible accommodations. Employees and Contractors may request an accommodation without fear of retaliation. If you believe you have been treated in a manner not in accordance with this policy, please notify the Company immediately by speaking to the Company Manager.
