Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Operations Group (COG) is responsible for the development and implementation of HCA’s Clinical Data and Analytics program as well as the expansion of business processes and performance related to HCA's Clinical Data Management Office (CDMO) and Data Management (DM) strategies.

This position is a corporate-level analyst position that provides technical and operational support in the management and execution of clinical data systems that have impact in clinical areas. The position requires an understanding and appreciation for Clinical Information; its capabilities, limitations, and impact on data and/or data normalization/standardization.

Summary of Position:

The CDMO Associate Data Analyst will support CDMO data usage analysis, ad hoc reporting, report configuration, and report distribution, data quality and ETL work throughout the organization. This role will be responsible for creating ad hoc and standard reports for data stewards and data users on the operational and data quality aspects related to assigned products or clinical EDW data. Additionally, the Associate Data Analyst will present and review facility-level data in the form of reports, dashboards and scorecards; and assist in defining and monitoring operation requirements defined within the CDMO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a standardized and consistent approach relating to CDMO participation and implementation of Data Governance, Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics
  • With direction and supervision acts as subject matter specialist to assist development of the appropriate strategies, plans, tools and approaches to ensure successful implementation of BI reports, dashboards and scorecards
  • Works to think analytically and critically to lead data standardization and automating efforts
  • Present data formally and informally and facilitate discussion regarding data outputs
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to use data in improving usage and operational workflow
  • Provide analysis and ad hoc operational data quality and data literacy reports as requested by Group, Division, and Corporate leaders
  • Ability to understand clinical data in order to develop and design reports and data quality analysis.
  • Obtain field feedback on usage activities to continuously improve CDMO output
  • Use and support database applications and analytical tools, evaluate data quality, applications, and workflow functions
  • Format, run, distribute, and interpret reports using the available tools
  • With direction and supervision provide in depth “what if” analysis of data using available tools

Qualifications:


  • Experience in small to mid-size reporting development projects (ad hoc and standard queries)
  • Demonstrated SQL development experience with solid understanding of relational and multi-dimensional designs
  • Power BI or Tableau experience preferred.
  • Experience with relational database management systems; Teradata and SQL Server are preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledgeable about clinical data within a healthcare system
  • Ability to communicate and facilitate topics clearly and effectively across department lines; working inside peer groups and receiving guidance from supervisor
  • Demonstrated oral, written and technical communication skills required
  • Knows and applies the fundamental concepts and principles gained through experience to solve straightforward problems and moderately complex problems
  • Demonstrated presentation/public speaking skills and experience required. Possesses good organizational as well as visual and verbal presentation skills
  • Working understanding of health industry data standards/normalization required for data interoperability and health information exchange (i.e. LOINC, SNOMED-CT, RxNorm, ICD-9, etc).
  • Working knowledge of the health care industry including EHR strategies and applications, clinical workflow issues, regulatory compliance and federal mandates preferred
  • Works with direct supervision and developing demonstrated skills to work independently
  • Possesses interpersonal skills to work in a high profile and fast paced team
  • Technical aptitude to learn and adapt to new industry applications and tools

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Specific expertise and experience in the areas of data analytics and data warehousing preferred
  • 0-2 years of relevant work or academic experience.
