** Salary and cost-of-living (COLA) are currently being negotiated and are anticipated to go into effect July 1, 2023**
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
Six (6) years of progressively responsible engineering technical experience.
NOTE - this position may be underfilled by applicants with less engineering technical experience.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, surveying, construction management, computer science, or specific area of study as deemed applicable may substitute for four (4) years of experience; or,
Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Competent use of Autodesk Civil 3D and associated tools
Ability to handle multiple demands, rapidly changing priorities, and work both independently or in a team environment

Available Schedules:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
May be eligible for an alternate schedule (e.g., 9-80 or 4-10)
The anticipated hiring range for the Engineering Technician IV / Engineering Associate position is $29.79 (first step) to
$31.28 or $32.84 (second or third step). Directly related experience and qualifications will be evaluated alongside others who perform work of comparable character as required by Pay Equity Law. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

These duties are a representative example; position assignments may vary depending on the business needs of the department and organization. This position:
Produces, processes, files, and maintains a variety of records, maps, plans, permits, property descriptions and other technical-related information.
Assists the public with a variety of inquiries and requests for information related to public works services; pursues and resolves citizen complaints in area of expertise.
Consults with and provides information to contractors, developers, other departments, agencies, and the public.
Prepares a variety of reports related to activities in assigned area of responsibility.
Assists in preparing City Council agenda commentaries; attends meetings and represents the Public Works
Department.
Manages projects and contractors including budgets, contract documents and administration, bidding and grants.
Positions assigned to Design Services may be responsible for:

Creating construction drawings for alteration of utilities, structures, street, pedestrian and other facilities using
AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Developing project concepts; performing necessary computations; cost/benefit analysis; recommending design criteria; assisting in plan review processes.
Communicating and working with the public, engineering consultants, and co-workers.
Computing material quantities and cost estimates.
Conducting onsite visits to check plan/scope accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and performing field inspections in all types of weather/terrain.
Performing project management duties, including preparing contracts, change orders, and cost and pay estimates. Serving as liaison between City and contractor, checking progress of work, etc.
Ensuring compliance with contractual stipulations and all applicable codes and statutes.
Preparing correspondence, technical reports, City documents, proposals, contracts, bid documents, reports, graphics and specifications, etc.
Verifying contractor qualifications and monitoring work progress.
Negotiating property acquisitions, and verifying and researching related documentation.
Communicating drainage methodology and design for street, sewer, storm drain, etc.
Soliciting bids and preparing bidding documents for public advertising.
Preparing and managing consultant and construction contracts.
