SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Associate Director of Television Engineering position is to provide executive leadership television engineering services at M. D. Anderson including administrative, budgeting, financial, and strategic planning in support of enterprise services including video and web conferencing (telemedicine, distance learning, administrative videoconferencing), television production, cable television (MDA-TV), streaming video (MDA-Internet TV and video on demand) and design and installation of audio-visual systems for new construction and renovations.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Executive management and leadership of enterprise AV and video/web conferencing services. Provide leadership for Telehealth Services for administrative, financial, budgeting, stewardship and strategic planning for enterprise AV and video conference to the institution. Serves as an institutional resource establishing AV and video conferencing policies, projecting preparing 3-5 year AV refresh budgets, leads AV and video/web conferencing planning initiatives with Facilities management on new construction of renovation projects
Audio/Visual Engineering Manage enterprise-wide AV engineering services. This includes personnel management, developing and managing works processes, financial management of television engineering funds, coordinating warranties and maintenance agreements. AV engineering services include: cable television, video and web conferencing, television production, satellite uplinks and downlinks, patient entertainment and education programming, internal and external streaming video communications, ITFS broadcasting and maintenance of institutional multimedia facilities.
AV Design, technical leadership for enterprise AV technologies. Lead Audio/Visual design and support services for new enterprise construction and renovation projects. Provide technical leadership in AV technologies supporting institutional initiatives. Stay current in professional and technical developments in the field AV engineering.
External Television Engineering Activities Serve as primary television engineering liaison on behalf of Telehealth Services with internal and external entities including, but not limited to Media Services and Academic Technology clients, MD Anderson Cancer Network, Global Academic Programs, UT System Office of Telecommunications Services, Sprint, Inc., Texas Medical Center institutions.
Other duties as assigned including special projects Successfully lead or participate in special project - new programs, projects, educational applications or development activities - assigned by the Senior Vice Preside for Academic Affairs

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering Technology, Computer Science or related field. Ten years of experience with television networking and distribution, to include three years of supervisory or managerial experience. May substitute the required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
