Job Summary:
The Radars and Sensors Center within SI&T seeks a Test Architect to be the integration lead to support our team in Pelham, NH, Woburn, MA and White Sands, NM. The Kingdom of Saudia Arabia (KSA) Terminal High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) Radar 1 Test Architect will provide technical leadership through the hardware and software integration of a new radar as the AN/TPY-2 product line expands to new foreign customers. The integration of this radar will be followed by the integration of multiple additional radars for the AN/TPY-2 product line, and the Test Architect will be expected to develop the test strategy for the initial integration as well as the product line integration of the additional radars. The Test Architect will implement best practices, provide mentoring and guidance to the team and identify lessons learned to drive improvements to the integration phase for the additional radars.
AN/TPY-2 is an X-band missile defense radar used in forward-based mode to detect ballistic missiles in the early stages of flight or in terminal mode as the sensor within the THAAD system. The integration and test work is crucial to the success of the program.

Responsibilities include:
The KSA Radar 1 Test Architect is responsible for all radar integration and test activities in Pelham, New Hampshire, and White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico for the KSA THAAD program. Responsibilities include providing leadership and technical guidance for a multi-disciplined team and interfacing with the engineering and program management team in Woburn, Massachusetts. The KSA Radar 1 Test Architect will work closely with the AN/TPY-2 Chief Engineers and will frequently interface with leaders and technical subject matter experts within the customer community. Duties include:
- Develops, documents, and executes the integration and sell off strategy and plans for the KSA THAAD radars
- Provides overall direction over the integration and test teams and activities.
- Drives defect discovery and closure to include:
- Ensures documentation of discovered defects during integration and test activities.
- Triages and assigns priorities to SAR/STRs in conjunction with IPT/CPT/CE for resolution.
- Develops fault trees or other artifacts for methodical burn down of root cause of defects.
- Coordinates with capability development teams for receipt and checkout of defect fixes.
- Sell-off of the radar to the customer.
- Updates the system regression teste suite throughout the maturation of HW and SW.
- Works with the engineering and program leadership to identify any necessary equipment (Capital or GFx).
- Coordinates with the I&T lead for daily reporting to the program and customer.
- Mentoring and training on-site engineers across multiple shifts and multiple sites.
This job is posted as ONSITE. This role can be based out of Woburn, Massachusetts or Pelham, New Hampshire. The role will require frequent travel between Pelham, Woburn, and Andover, Massachusetts. This role will require travel to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The role will require extended hours and may require the employee to support off-shift hours.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), and a minimum of twelve (12) years of prior relevant experience, or a master’s degree in STEM and a minimum of ten (10) years of prior experience in systems engineering, systems integration, verification and validation.
- Experience leading a technical team in integration lab, test facility, or in the field, which included:
- Responsibility for execution of technical, cost, and schedule performance
- Coordination of efforts with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience representing a program with external customers.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
- Prior radar integration experience
- Advanced knowledge of MATLAB and data analysis
- Familiarity with UNIX and the ability to work in UNIX-based environments.
- Experience working with the Missile Defense Agency customer.
- Experience working on an exportable defense system.
- Familiarity with IPDS, internal reviews, and gate reviews
- Subject Matter Expert in Systems Integration, Verification, and/or Validation
- Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Math, Applied Physics, or Systems Engineering
