THE ROLE: Associate Engineer

The Associate Network Engineer is an entry level role providing mentorship opportunities in the technical networking field. This individual is responsible for providing technical support on project based work, which will include planning, design, and delivery of LAN and WAN implementations. This individual will be part of a mentorship program to develop skills for planning, design, implementing, and supporting simple to complex LAN and WAN environments. This program will be a combination of hands on engineering, working closely with experienced engineers on ongoing projects, training for certifications, as well as collaborating in an environment that promotes learning of new technologies. Ideal candidates are ambitious and detail oriented individuals looking to advance their careers in a fast paced environment.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work with team to perform network moves/adds/changes on project based work.
  • Implement software upgrades & basic Cisco route/switch configurations.
  • Perform troubleshooting of basic layer 1 to 3 issues.
  • Document connectivity of networking equipment in spreadsheets and in Visio.
  • Follow network test plans and document results.
  • Stage and perform hardware upgrades/ replacements.
  • Perform rack & stacking as well as cabling.
  • Execute site surveys and document IDF/MDF findings.
  • Participate and contribute in discovery meetings and in detailed design whiteboard sessions.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • 1+ year relevant work experience; “Hands-On” technical experience.
  • Strong preference for an active Cisco® CCNA certificate.
  • Experience working with clients, troubleshooting, problem isolation and resolution skills.
  • Must have understanding of LAN/WAN internetworking technology.
  • Must have understanding of IP subnetting, DNS & DHCP.
  • Comfortable using common productivity & collaboration tools such as Microsoft® Visio, Word, Excel.
  • Ambitious and goal-oriented, with the initiative to work until job is completed.
  • Must be able to work well with other team members in a collaborative fashion, fostering learning and knowledge sharing to complete customer projects.
  • Excellent customer facing / people skills.
  • Possession of a vehicle will be necessary for this role.
