American Leadership Academy-Johnston is accepting applications for an Athletic Secretary for the 2023-2024 school year.


The Athletic Secretary performs secretarial duties for the Athletic Director and Athletic department. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer telephone to provide information, take messages, or transfer calls.
  • Greet visitors, determine nature of business, and direct visitors to destination.
  • Compose, or transcribe from rough draft, correspondence, bulletins, memorandums, newsletters, and other materials.
  • Maintain calendar of school events.
  • Assist with activity fees.
  • Prepare notes and memos going home to parents regarding any school events.
  • Keep track of uniform rotation.
  • Send out Alert Solutions messages as directed by the athletic director.
  • Maintain confidentially and a need-to-know policy with regard to staff and student information.
  • Observe safety and security procedures, and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Perform clerical duties for the athletic director such as schedule room usage for athletic teams, create rosters, and complete weekly academic eligibility checks for student athletes.
  • Assists in creating the season schedules for athletic teams.
  • Other duties assigned by the athletic director or campus director.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff and/or parent information.
  • Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness and generate suggestions for improving work.


Technology Skills:

  • Should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as familiar with Student Management software.


Education or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
