Audio Video Designer/Engineer - AV- Full Time
Location: Durham, NC, 27517
Annual Salary Range (based on experience): $75K+
Experience you will need:

  • 5 years of AV systems design experience
  • 3 years of direct client interaction experience
  • 3 years effective cross-functional collaboration
  • Audio visual integrated systems and IT networking expertise
  • Demonstrated success with management if multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success delivering on-target with quantifiable results with customer satisfaction
  • Self-motivated team player who takes initiative to solve problems and create opportunities
  • Basic network security
  • At least 1 of Crestron DMC-E or Extron XTP-E Certification
  • DSP Level 2 Certifications
  • Completion of Network Essentials or equivalent
  • AutoCAD or Visio experience
  • Revit and/or RCDD a plus

Design complex integrated audio visual (AV) systems resulting in optimal user experience and functionality. Serves as an expert adviser, internally or externally, who takes pride in his/her craftsmanship and coaches level I team members in the same spirit.

What you will be doing:

  • Design customer-centered complex audio-visual systems with timeliness and accuracy that ensure satisfaction and sustainability within the client environment
  • Partner effectively with Account Team to provide expert technical advisement and visionary brainstorming during presale design opportunities
  • Critically assess customer needs and ambitions (known and unknown to the client) and guide clients to the most appropriate solutions through direct customer interaction or via effective communication with Account Management (e.g. knowledge transfer of Design Requirements and Site Survey forms)
  • Collaborate with Programmers throughout the system design phase to ensure efficient design principles from a control perspective are applied to achieve a shared vision
  • Maintain effective 2-way communication with Project Manager regarding expectations and status of projects; adhere to design timelines, proactively identify and address potential obstacles and optimize opportunities, etc.
  • Provide exemplary customer service during any client interactions, instilling confidence both in our capabilities and our trustworthiness to deliver on a commitment of excellence
  • Ensure appropriate management of drawings within designated location(s) and maintain version control
  • Achieve and maintain active CTS-D certification and second level certification in primary DSP environments.
  • Attend advanced training courses throughout the year for continued education and leadership development. Synthesize and transfer knowledge in appropriate detail to the rest of the team.
  • Provide strategic input to Director of Design regarding performance and business strategy optimization (e.g. process improvement, project or resources prioritization, pursuit of new markets or clients in support of company’s 5-year strategy)
  • Other duties as assigned
