The Audio Visual Specialist will set-up and operate many of WVSOM’s Audio Visual & Production systems. This person will be cross trained to provide support for other areas of the department as needed. This position reports to the Director of Audio Visual & Production.
This is a full-time, non-classified position and is exempt from FLSA regulations concerning overtime. Not all activities of this position occur within the confines of a normal schedule and shall require evening and weekend scheduling as needed. The weekly schedule for this position will be established between the supervisor and the employee and approved given the needs of the department and WVSOM.

Education/Knowledge
Minimum Education

Required Licenses/Certification
Requires an Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a related field plus three years of related experience though any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may also be considered.
Skills Required
- Excellent visual and hearing acuity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in any communication capacity (written or verbal), along with excellent communication skills.
- Strong customer service, and organizational skills.
- In-depth working knowledge of audiovisual signal flow.
- Working knowledge of camera, lighting and audio techniques and best practices.
- Working knowledge of audio and video editing equipment and software.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to reason logically and analyze and resolve complex or non-routine problems and questions.
- Ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances without direct supervision.
- General Computer and Office management skills.

- Set-up and operate audio, video and lighting systems and assist with maintenance, trouble shooting, repair and upgrade of these systems as well as to provide training for the end-user;
- This person will be cross-trained to provide back-up and support for all areas of the department as needed;
- Basic recording and editing of Audio and Video;
- Setup and execute medium to large-scale hybrid and videoconferencing events;
- Ensure all AV equipment is organized and carefully stored, and complete regular audits of the equipment;
- Assist with information gathering, designing, installing and maintaining various audiovisual systems on/off campus;
- Assist with the set-up and execution of Graduation, Convocation, Follies and other large-scale events;
- Provide excellent customer service to meet internal and external client expectations;
- Other related duties as assigned.
