POSITION OVERVIEW

The First Baptist Church of Glenarden Productions Department is seeking a full-time Audio-Visual Technician to join our team to help with the set up and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems, while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. The Productions Department is part of the Church Business Operations and provides full-service audio/video production and live streaming, creative services, and AV technical support. We work with church ministry, business, and external clients in a dynamic event-driven Christian environment. This position reports to the Production Supervisor. Secondary accountability will be to the other management team members, employees, and ministry customers of the Church.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Serve as a member of the Production Team, responsible for handling basic sound, video & lighting technical needs as requested, primarily at Ministry Center.
  • Collaborate with ministry/clients to provide in-house guidance and services regarding equipment operation during special services, performances, and rehearsals.
  • Ensure all systems sound, video, and lighting function smoothly during services, events & performances.
  • Ensure the sound, video & lighting volunteer teams and technical contractors respect standards and regulations regarding the safety of all equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain all Production equipment and keep good maintenance records.
  • Use the tools and procedures provided by the Production management team to manage inventory and equipment.
  • Provide support, assistance, and training to our volunteer team members.
  • Coordinate with MASS, Events, and IT Departments to provide AV technical support and setup related to Hybrid classroom troubleshooting.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be saved, have a servant’s heart, and be a member, in good standing or willing to become a member in good standing of FBCG.
  • Must be able to submit to authorities as defined by the Pastor.
  • Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.
  • Must have an understanding and appreciation for the ministry and the mission of FBCG.
  • Must pass a hands-on skills test on-site.
  • Knowledge of all aspects relating to audio, video and lighting setups for all services, events & performances communications during load-in, performances, and load-out.
  • Knowledge of all sound, video and lighting positions in the Production department and ability to operate or perform all duties at each position
  • Must have the ability to pay attention to detail and have strong interpersonal skills to handle clients, employees, and interdepartmental relationships.
  • Must be computer literate in both OS platforms Apple Mac and Microsoft, and possess the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, bend from the waist, reach overhead, twist, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. without restriction.
  • Must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while working under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of safe working loads, safety factors and rigging principles.
  • Must be able to speak fluent English. Ability to communicate both orally and written is essential.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, think quickly on your feet, be a problem solver, and work independently
  • Must be able to take initiative to address technical concerns without being asked
  • Must be punctual. Most of our events and/or task are time sensitive and time driven.
  • Must be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be willing to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice as needed.
