Job description
The Corporate Risk Manager performs complex and varied technical and professional work required to identify and eliminate/reduce Waste Pro's exposure to Litigation Risk. Responsible for the proper implementation of enterprise risk programs. The Corporate Risk Manager will work with Loss Prevention Managers to determine liability, secure documentation, evidence, and discuss defense options with outside counsel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Identify financial, legal, and safety risks
- Work with Safety/Risk team to develop action plans to decrease or eliminate these risks
- Review all loss claims
- Examine police reports, statements, videos from surveillance cameras, etc.
- Analyze information with Loss Prevention Managers to determine liability and possible defense strategies
- Review facts with outside counsel, develop defense strategy and communicate the plan to the Safety Director and other management
- Liaise with adjusters, insurance companies, and attorney's
- Provide feedback and guidance to Loss Prevent Managers to improve the claim reporting process
- Propose risk avoidance adjustments to current to methods of operation and procedures
- Provide training for organizational staff to recognize and avoid risk
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
- Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.
- Any additional job duties as assigned
- High school diploma required; Degree in Insurance, Dispute Resolution, Legal Studies, or Risk Management preferred
- Previous experience in a loss prevention role
- Previous experience with litigation including defense strategies, settlement negotiations, and settlement funding options
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong Oral and Written communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft office skills to include Excel and Word
- Ability to multitask and detail oriented
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information appropriately
- Solid researching skills using the internet and other sources of information
- Must have a strong background in dealing with people under difficult circumstances and a compassionate and resilient personality
