Mental Health Specialist Job Description

We are hiring compassionate, diligent Mental Health Specialists to join our dual-diagnosis detoxification and residential addiction medicine facility in a gorgeous mini-mansion in Folsom. You will be working in conjunction with therapists, certified AOD counselors, and medical staff overseen by a Program Director to implement treatment plans for patients with primary addiction diagnoses, providing them with the care, support, and monitoring they require.

To be successful as a Mental Health Specialist, you should be an excellent listener with a solid understanding of what it takes to treat or manage addiction and behavior disorders. Top candidates will also be sensitive, respectful, and personable when working with our patients.

Mental Health Specialist Shift Details:

• Rates are $19-23/hour.
• Incentives available for consistent work attendance and exceptional performance.

Mental Health Specialist Responsibilities:

• Carrying out individual treatment plans prescribed by clinical and medical professionals.
• Monitoring patients and recording your observations.
• Reporting back on each patient's progress and concerns.
• Ensuring patients have a safe and supportive environment.
• Diffusing situations in which patients wish to harm themselves or others, either emotionally or physically.
• Providing emotional support to patients.
• Alerting clinical and medical professionals to intervene in emergencies.
• Carrying out documentation and other administrative tasks.
• Attending staff meetings as scheduled.
• Attending all trainings as scheduled.
• Remaining alert and awake throughout all shifts.
• Maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

Mental Health Specialist Requirements:

• Experience working with addiction and those in recovery is preferred.
• Experience working in a mental health institution or psychiatric unit is preferred.
• Ability to treat patients with dignity and empathy.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Acute observation skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to clearly establish and maintain boundaries and expectations.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Holidays
• Night shift

All patients, employees, interns, and visitors are require to wear masks at all times onsite.

• This is a new company, and hours are not guaranteed to be consistent. Your hours are dependent upon whether we have patients in the facility, until we are fully ramped up.
