Role Description
The Senior Director of Finance is a proactive, strategic finance professional. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Director of Finance leads Baltimore Corps’ day-to-day financial activities, manages budget planning and implementation, and reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCE (90%)
- Budget
- Support the CFO in annual budget development and forecasting
- Maintain budgeting and forecasting models
- Manage spending throughout the year to stay under budget
- Support Directors in managing their department budgets
- Lead in creating budget proposals for federal, state and foundation grants
- Accounts Payable & Receivable
- AP: oversee bill pay and reimbursement process
- AR: oversee invoice preparation, sending, and collection process
- Accounting
- With support from the Internal accountant, manage accounting system setup and process
- Oversee system for organizing financial records and other documentation
- Track grant restrictions and grant spending
- Audit(s) and 990
- Lead annual financial audit and 990 processes, and support other compliance requirements
- In collaboration with the Senior Compliance Analyst and CFO, prepare for and lead single audit
- Support the CFO in setting organization-wide finance policies to ensure great financial health
- Reporting
- Lead financial grant budget reporting for federal state and foundation grants:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for federal, state and foundation grants
- Prepare monthly financial reports for CFO review
- Perform quarterly financial modeling
- Annual Cost - Benefit Analysis
- Support CFO with preparation of Risk Assessment Matrix Reports
- Cash flow management
- Stand in for the CFO as needed; Including but not limited to leading finance meetings with senior leadership
SPECIAL PROJECTS (10%)
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5-8 years of experience in the fields of accounting or finance; a plus experience managing multiple federal grants.
- Highly detail-oriented, careful, and precise
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel
- Ability to manage competing demands and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively problem-solve and exercise judgment
- Experience managing individuals
- Strong ability to work collaboratively across departments with a diverse team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to give, receive, and incorporate feedback

- Strong creative skills to develop new and innovative solutions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of Procurify, Bill.com, Zenefits, Monday.com (or similar platforms) and/or a willingness to learn, plus an ability and desire to work with data-driven systems
- Accounting or finance experience in a non-profit environment
REPORTS TO: Baltimore Corps’ Chief Financial Officer
TIMELINE AND COMPENSATION
This is a full-time salaried position, ranging from $90,000 - $100,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. REMOTE WORK POLICY
Baltimore Corps is currently operating 100% remotely, however, Baltimore Corps are revisiting in-person policies regularly. Candidates must be local (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) and have the ability to attend in-person required meetings in the upcoming months as needed.
