Pyramid Studios, an arts-focused nonprofit adult day training program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is seeking a Behavior Specialist.

The primary responsibilities of the Behavior Specialist include:

  • Ensuring that behavior interventions follow formal behavior plans and agency policies, institute proper TACT procedures and reflect a culture of caring.
  • When necessary, coach and assist staff in understanding how to interact with students effectively and correctly.
  • Taking lead in behavior emergencies as necessary, seeking assistance as required.

Specific functions of the Behavior Specialist include:

  • Leading the intake process for students with identified behavior issues.
  • Participating and supporting staff in the implementation of behavior programs and fading processes that benefit individual students.
  • Working with management to ensure accurate behavior information is systematically disseminated throughout the facility.
  • Training staff in Behavior Management, Facility Emergency Procedures and specific behavior plans.
  • Submitting Reactive Strategies information to the Agency for Persons with Disabilities within required timelines.
  • Managing a caseload of up to 15 students.
  • Attending Case Management and all other meetings related to caseload.

Qualifications

  • Four years’ experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Two years’ minimum implementing behavior support plans.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Successful Drug Test
  • Successful Level II Background Screening
  • Ability to complete all required reports.
  • Ability to lift, perform all personal care services.

Starting pay for the Behavior Specialist is $17.00 an hour, more depending on experience. Benefits include group health insurance, paid time off.
