South Mississippi Regional Center is a program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health providing care and support for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Each position at South Mississippi Regional Center is an important and impactful role that provides our individuals with the appropriate level of care to meet their social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.

SHIFT: Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday
12:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. with variations as necessary.

Responsibilities:
Duties include: Providing behavioral support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Carries out behavior programs. Interacts with individuals in the form of informal contact, counseling, interview, observation, outings, and reinforcement as indicated in behavior programs. Provides assistance as needed when individuals display behavior challenges. Assists Behavioral Health Specialist with recording of target behaviors. Tabulates behavior reports. Assists with daily needs of individuals including transporting, feeding, hygiene, grooming, assisting in the bathroom, etc. Assist recreation on outings and recreational activities and the Nursing staff as required/needed. Provides training for staff under the direction and supervision of the Behavioral Health Specialist. Attends and participates in team meetings reviewing behavioral tallies and incident reports as assigned. Related or similar duties are performed as assigned.

Location: Long Beach Campus
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field (social work/services, education, criminal justice, etc.) and 2-4 years of experience. A valid MS Driver’s License or license from a contiguous state, and personal vehicle insurance is required. Must be eligible to drive a State vehicle. Preference will be given to those with experience working with people with IDD.
