Required Qualifications:
- High School or GED Diploma.
- Ability to work late afternoons/early evenings (minimum of 2-3 evenings per week) and some weekend hours.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent organizational skills: this person will manage a caseload of families who are in different phases of the intervention.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys working with families.
- Demonstrated computer skills using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience participating in research including recruitment, survey research, and/or in-home/clinic data collection.
- Interest in research including families with physical and mental health concerns, health disparities, and/or community-based research.
- Spanish fluency and ability to translate materials into Spanish.

We are searching for a dynamic and motivated Data Collector to join the growing Family Matters team (Principal Investigator: Dr. Jerica Berge). This is a great opportunity to be a part of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded research that is making a difference in the lives of families with school-aged children around the Twin Cities. You will play a vital role in supporting recruitment and retention efforts, as well as data collection on a large scale clinical trial, the Family Matters Program. This study utilizes innovative intervention methods to examine whether increasing the quality (i.e., dietary quality, meal atmosphere) and quantity of family meals (i.e., frequency of meals) improves child health. Job Responsibilities
- 60% Data Collection: Collect anthropometric, dietary, and stress related data virtually from families participating in the study. Virtual data collection visits will be conducted from our office (717 Delaware St SE – East Bank Campus). As visits are with school-aged children, late afternoon/early evening and some weekend availability is required to accommodate visits.
- 25% Study Recruitment: Place recruitment calls to families, prepare recruitment materials, and schedule virtual data collection visits.
- 10% Administrative Duties: Attend weekly team meetings, data entry, assisting with study protocols, and other duties as assigned.
- 5% Translation: If applicable, the incumbent will also spend time translating data collection materials (i.e., participant handouts, recruitment materials) as needed.
This position is represented by a bargaining unit, AFSCME Technical.
Salary Range: $41,600.00 to $54,891.20 USD/year; expected starting salary will be $43,056.00, depending on qualifications.
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 50 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians.
