UCLA Technology Center for Genomics & Bioinformatics (UCLA TCGB) seeks a talented and highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to carry out genomic data analysis and serve as a lead in our bioinformatics group. Primary duties include: • Program and execute bioinformatics pipelines for genomic research applications. • Oversee the proper functioning of the NGS bioinformatics pipeline. • Develop custom script to streamline data analysis process; perform statistical and other data analyses for next-generation sequencing (Miseq, Hiseq2500, HiSeq3000, Novaseq6000, single cell sequencing with 10X genomics, Oxford nanopore, Parse Biosciences single cell, 10X Visium spatial gene expression and Nanostring GeoMx digital spatial profiling). • Performs NGS demultiplexing, data analysis and data delivery, including RNAseq, WGS, WES, Chiseq, methyseq, miRNAseq, single cell sequencing and spatial RNAseq data analysis. • Consult with customers to plan for upcoming experiments, focusing on data requirement and analysis design. Salary Range: $66,300.00 - $131,100.00/year
• PhD preferred but not necessary in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, OR a PhD in molecular biology combined with a very strong record of high-throughput data analysis. • Strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R, MATLAB, Python or Perl for complex data analysis. • Broad experience with data generated by high-throughput molecular assays including microarrays and next-generation sequencing. • Excellent data presentation skills.
