Biomedical Engineer/Clinical Engineer
Sigma Health Consulting, headquartered in McLean, VA, is a woman, veteran-owned healthcare consulting firm. We are seeking a Biomedical/Clinical Engineer to provide strategic healthcare technology management services. The Biomedical/Clinical Engineer will utilize expertise and industry best practices to formulate and deliver best in class analysis, assessment, and reporting that strengthen and improve national operations of biomedical engineering at a federal healthcare agency. The scope of work includes the authoring and delivering of work products focused on medical technology inventory, technology requirements, technical configurations, and maintenance management protocols. Please note that telecommuting is permissible for this role.
Duties:
· Support the development of enterprise-level strategic and guidance documents and associated policies, procedures, and practices for regional- and facility-level biomedical/clinical engineering activities.
· Work with enterprise-level biomedical/clinical engineering leadership to provide biomedical engineering subject matter expertise and experience to inform on industry trends and perform research and analysis on assigned topics.
· Assess, develop, and implement medical technology inventory standards and best practices to streamline system entry and maintenance of inventory and technical attributes.
· Develop technical configuration standards for medical equipment and clinical systems to minimize variation and improve response to cybersecurity threats, hazard recalls, and maintenance needs.
· Evaluate medical technology needs against current inventory and collaborate with biomedical and clinical stakeholders to identify, communicate, and assess medical technology requirements
· Evaluate planned maintenance frequencies and protocols, analyzing costs and managing associated risks in the establishment of enterprise-wide standards
· Leverage qualitative and quantitative data to update and refine tools to be used by all levels of the biomedical/clinical engineering community.
· Support enterprise-level workgroups with meeting facilitation and technical expertise.
· Work in collaboration as a part of Sigma’s dynamic, high performing team of consultants and subject matter experts (SMEs) in the execution of client scope.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Professional Engineering Curriculum
· Experience performing biomedical/clinical engineering functions (medical device assessment, procurement, implementation, and sustainment) in a clinical setting.
· Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs Biomedical Engineering considered highly desirable.
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
· Strong analysis capabilities and comfortable working with large volumes of data.
· Demonstrated experience performing project management tasks.
· Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office, MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
· Qualifications necessary to complete a VA NACI Security Clearance.
· Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week
· Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance
· Telecommuting is permitted
