Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: Morton Salt, Inc. seeks a Bulk Supply Planner in Chicago, IL to coordinate bulk supply planning activities for North America, with volumes of approximately 14 MM tons. The position will perform the following duties:
- Maintain weekly and monthly supply schedule, including vessel scheduling, defining salt grades, and projecting inventory
- Manage a supply plan and its distribution-related activities
- Develop and maintain a Master Production Schedule, to provide the Operations Management Team with a plan to meet Supply Chain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Develop and implement strategy to optimize stockpile inventory levels, inventory turns, and product sourcing
- Utilize Demand Planning (DP), Supply Network Planning (SNP), Production Planning/Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) and Business Warehouse (BW)
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to develop action plans
- Conduct meetings with General Managers for all mining sites, to coordinate production scheduling and identify future per year risks in production
- Re-source and redistribute inventory to minimize supply interruption during production outages
- Lead meetings with offshore Operations and Planning teams to coordinate regarding changes in demand and allocation of vessels
- Determine the type and grade of salt to be loaded on each vessel based on customer requirements
- Work with Operations to analyze production capacity
- Establish production forecasts and manage processes for manufacturing treated salt
- Coordinate bulk rock network supply using our Excel Supply Model, which includes STOs, customer shipments, and supply to co-packers
- Transition community supply planning to APO/SNP or SAP/IBP
- Track and maintain non-standard sourcing movements; collaborate with Finance to report estimated volume and costs
- Conduct regular consensus calls with Mining Operations, Marine Transportation, and Sales & Marketing; conduct bi-annual surveys with stakeholders/Plant Managers to gauge progress; and drive improvement within the group’s supply chain.
- The qualified applicant must live within commuting distance of Chicago, IL.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The position requires at least a bachelor’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Supply Chain Mgmt, Operations Mgmt, Industrial Eng'g, or Mechanical Eng'g, plus at least three (3) years of experience in the job offered, or in a similar corporate or manufacturing production scheduling role.
- A qualified applicant’s experience must include: 2 years of experience performing SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) and Business Warehouse (BW) for maritime freight industry/marine logistics
- 2 years of experience determining rock salt mine capabilities, including capacity and grade, using Demand Planning (DP), Supply Network Planning (SNP), Production Planning/Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) and Business Warehouse (BW)
- 2 years of experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Supply Chain Planning Software
- 2 years of experience analyzing key supply chain and inventory performance metrics, turns, and margin contributions using SAP Business Warehouse (BW)
- 2 years of experience working with Tableau to interpret and analyze data.
