Job description

The Bus/Van Attendant assists in the safe and pleasant transportation of children to school/ day program and home.
Responsibilities and Duties

• Ensures the safety and well-being of children being transported to and from school/ day programs, including but not limited to:
• Helping children board the bus safely
• Assuring that the bus driver is not distracted from the safe operation of the vehicle;
• Helping children safely get off the bus and into the custody (only) of those individuals authorized to receive them; and
• Retrieving any fallen objects during the bus ride.

• Follows and ensures mandated child restraint devise procedures, ensuring children are properly positioned and restrained.
• Have familiarity with the routes, locations, and any changes to aid a sub-driver.
• Engages in activity that is:
• Safe and appropriate for a moving vehicle; and
• Consistent with Developmentally Appropriate Practices to make the trip pleasant and comfortable.

• In the event of an accident or emergency, assures the safe evacuation of children and adults' passengers (following the Bus Evacuation Plan) Emergency Plan.
• Knowledge and ability to use the radio in the event of an emergency and be able to give your exact location.
• Assists in completing accident reports, when appropriate.
• Attends all scheduled staff meetings, team meetings, and trainings, as requested.
• Supervises sign-in and sign-out procedures (where applicable).
• Answers parents' questions, if possible and tells them any pertinent Information about the child's bus ride or condition.
• Assists in maintaining the interior of the vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition.
• Assures that no child is ever left unsupervised on a bus.
• Assures that bus is properly checked at the end of each route to ensure all children are off.
• Performs other duties, as may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 19 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass background check.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and drag 120 lbs. to past performance test

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.20 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• No nights
• No weekends
