About us: University Physicians of Brooklyn, Inc., represents the faculty of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn's only academic medical center. The Department of Medicine is seeking an experienced Business Development and Faculty Practice Manager. Reporting directly to the Department Chairman and Administrator. The ideal candidate will liaise with University Hospital of Brooklyn and the University Physician of Brooklyn Practice Operations Manager to lead all aspects of the medicine department faculty practice. This includes focus on revenue cycle management, clinical operations management including practice workflow and design, provider productivity, patient access and satisfaction initiatives, staff training and management, external systems integrations, and special projects. And also create business plans for the growth and development of the department and institution.

Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with department administrator, chairman, and financial manager to formulate and monitor annual budget and planning process.

· Oversee the entire revenue cycle process such as account management, charge reconciliation, communication with insurance payors, collections, cash posting, contract analysis, denial management, and billing.

· Collaborate with newly recruited faculty to create business plans for the growth and development of institutional patent care endeavors.

· Develop outreach marketing plans to strategize collaborations with local community practices to increase University Hospital of Brooklyn admissions.

· Work with UPB Administration to negotiate contracts with local healthcare practices and facilities

· Work with faculty and staff to optimize patient flow and physician practice schedules.

· Review daily, weekly and monthly key accounts receivables performance metrics to identify trends and areas in need of specific attention.

· Analyze data to identify trends related to denials and rejections; develop and execute plans to avoid, reduce and resolve denials and rejections.

· Work with UPB Administration to create and communicate revenue cycle policies and procedures.

· Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with state and federal laws/regulations for Medicaid and all other payers.

· Collaborate with practice providers, division managers and managed care department to monitor and improve value-based quality incentive programs with various insurance carriers.

· Collect data and compile statistical reports for administrative and regulatory purposes.

· Monitor and report on monthly volume and analyze trends to recommend schedule and template revisions.

· Manage all aspects of staffing and human resources including recruitment, screening, hiring, orienting and training, evaluations, disciplinary and termination issues.

· Maintain personnel records including time and attendance records; use all human resources systems to manage HR transactions.

· Implement and administer information systems and related technology to enhance effectiveness of clinical operations and related activities.

· Troubleshoot and resolve system issues for faculty and staff.

· Work with UPB Administration to recommend computer system and business process enhancements to improve provider and end-user efficiency.

· Monitor and resolve charge interface issues from Ingenious Med, MD Reports, and additional practice related software into AthenaHealth.

· Collaborate with department administrator and chairman to evaluate growth opportunities, develop and implement business plans.

· Develop and maintain an appropriate reporting system that meets governmental regulatory requirements value-based incentive programs such as Meaningful Use and Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) also known as Quality Payment Program (QPP).

· Special projects as assigned by the department administrator and chairman.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or Health Care Administration or related field. Knowledge of practice plan physician compensation and at least 5 years of experience in an academic healthcare setting. MBA with concentration in management highly preferred.

Competencies:

· Should have knowledge and competence in clinical operations, revenue cycle management, human resource management, data analytics, and quality and process improvement.

· Strong business acumen with an understanding of healthcare finance, budgets, strategic planning.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Strong technical skills in Information Technology systems and problem solving.

· Proven ability to manage and build high-performing teams and develop/mentor staff.

· Competency with Microsoft Office Programs, EHR programs, Athenahealth preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to partner with and support physicians in a high-volume practice.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
